ManyChat Pricing 2026: Plans, Contact Costs, Add-ons

How much does ManyChat cost in 2026? As of October 2026, ManyChat runs five plans (Free, Essential, Pro, Business, Advanced) priced from $0 to about $139 per month when billed annually, and billed by active contact rather than by message. The free plan is now capped at 25 contacts, a typical Instagram or Messenger setup lands on Pro at roughly $29 per month for 2,500 contacts, and the AI features can add another $29 per month depending on your plan.

The headline price is only part of the bill. Contacts are counted more broadly than most people expect, overage is charged per contact, WhatsApp conversations are billed separately by Meta, and monthly billing costs more than annual. This guide lays out the plans, what changed in March 2026, a worked cost calculation at 500, 2,500 and 10,000 contacts, the AI add-on, and the hidden costs. It ends with a short, honest section on when an AI agent on your website is enough, or a useful complement to ManyChat.

Quick answer: expect $14 to $29 per month for a small account, around $58 per month for a Pro account with AI switched on, and $130 to $140 per month once you pass roughly 10,000 active contacts. Prices below are the annual-billing equivalents reported by third-party reviews of the public pricing page. Monthly billing is higher (reviewers cite savings of about 18 percent for annual), so check the live page before budgeting.

ManyChat Plans and Prices in 2026

ManyChat replaced its former Free, Pro and Elite structure on March 2, 2026 with five tiers. The table shows the annual-billing monthly equivalent, the active contacts included, and the price of each extra contact.

Plan Price per month (billed annually) Active contacts included Overage per extra contact AI features
Free $0 25 Not applicable No
Essential $14 250 $0.10 No
Pro $29 2,500 $0.05 Yes (see add-on section)
Business $69 7,500 $0.025 Yes
Advanced $139 25,000 $0.004 Yes

Two caveats. First, ManyChat has also advertised entry prices "from $15" on Pro that scale with contact tiers, so the exact figure you see depends on your contact count when you sign up. Second, the plan limits above come from third-party reviews (sources at the end of this article), because ManyChat's own pricing page was not retrievable by our tooling. Treat them as a reliable guide, not a quote.

What Changed in March 2026

  • A new five-plan ladder. Free, Pro and Elite became Free, Essential, Pro, Business and Advanced, with Essential acting as a cheaper entry point.
  • The free plan shrank. It dropped from 1,000 contacts to 25. That turns the free tier into a sandbox for testing flows, not something you can run a real audience on.
  • Billing by active contact. ManyChat counts the people you exchange messages with in a month through automations, broadcasts or the inbox. It does not bill by message or by automation triggered.
  • Per-contact overage. Going past your included contacts is charged per extra contact, at a rate that falls as you move up the plans.

In practice, accounts that relied on the old free tier had to choose between staying tiny and paying. Accounts with a growing audience now need to watch how many contacts they actually activate each month.

Real Cost at 500, 2,500 and 10,000 Contacts

The calculation below uses the list prices in the table (annual billing). For each contact volume, it takes the plan's monthly price plus overage for contacts above the included amount: price + (contacts minus included) x overage rate. The cheapest sensible plan is in bold. It excludes taxes, WhatsApp conversation fees and any AI add-on.

Active contacts Essential Pro Business Advanced
500 $14 + 250 x $0.10 = $39 $29 (within 2,500) $69 $139
2,500 $14 + 2,250 x $0.10 = $239 $29 (within 2,500) $69 $139
10,000 $14 + 9,750 x $0.10 = $989 $29 + 7,500 x $0.05 = $404 $69 + 2,500 x $0.025 = $131.50 $139 (within 25,000)

Three takeaways. Essential is only cheap while you stay near its 250 contacts, and it has no AI. Pro is the sweet spot up to 2,500 contacts. Between 7,500 and 25,000 contacts, Business and Advanced are nearly the same price, so the cheaper one depends on your exact volume. Overage is the trap: crossing a plan's limit by a few thousand contacts can cost more than jumping to the next tier.

ManyChat AI Add-on Cost

Sources disagree slightly on how AI is packaged. One review lists AI as available only from Pro upward. Another describes a separate AI add-on of about $29 per month on top of the base plan, which brings a typical Pro setup with AI to around $58 per month. Whichever applies to your account, plan on AI costing extra and confirm it on the checkout page.

What the AI does matters as much as what it costs. ManyChat's AI answers from content you paste in manually (reviewers cite a limit of about 250,000 characters) rather than ingesting documents or an existing help center automatically. It sits inside a flow-based tool built for social DM marketing, so it suits qualifying and routing conversations better than answering open-ended product questions at depth.

Hidden Costs to Plan For

  • Broad contact counting. Anyone you exchange messages with counts, including people who DM you organically and story reactions. A viral post can lift your contact count, and your bill, without warning.
  • Monthly versus annual billing. Prices quoted online are usually annual equivalents. Paying monthly costs more, by roughly 18 percent according to reviewers.
  • WhatsApp fees. WhatsApp access requires Pro or higher, and Meta bills its own per-conversation fees through Meta Wallet on top of ManyChat. For the channel itself, see our WhatsApp AI chatbot guide.
  • Flow maintenance time. Every product, price or policy change means editing flows by hand. That is staff time, not a line on the invoice, but it is part of the real cost.
  • Overage cliffs. As shown above, a few thousand contacts over the limit can cost more than the next plan.
  • Billing surprises. Reviews on Trustpilot cite unexpected charges as the main complaint, even though invited reviews rate the product well. Set a contact alert and review your count monthly.

ManyChat Alternatives: When a Website AI Agent Is Enough

Be clear about the difference first. ManyChat is built for conversations on Instagram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp: comment-to-DM automations, giveaways, broadcast sequences. Heeya does not do any of that. It is an AI agent that answers from your own documents and runs on your website (a script embed or a hosted chat link). It has no Instagram or Messenger DM connector, so it is not a ManyChat replacement for social automation.

Where it can make sense is the other half of the funnel:

  • Your questions arrive on the website, not in DMs. Opening hours, prices, delivery, policies, product details: a RAG agent answers from your documents around the clock.
  • You use ManyChat for acquisition and want support on the site. Keep ManyChat for DM campaigns and let a site agent handle visitors who click through and have questions.
  • Your contact count makes ManyChat's billing unpredictable. Heeya is priced per message with flat plans: €0 (30 messages per month), €19 (500 messages) and €99 (2,500 messages). That is a different unit from ManyChat's active contacts, so compare it against your website traffic, not your follower count.

If your business lives on social DMs, stay with a DM-native tool (ManyChat or a comparable one). If it lives on a website with a FAQ, a support inbox and repeat questions, a site agent is the better fit, and some teams run both.

FAQ

How much does ManyChat cost per month in 2026?

As of October 2026, ManyChat costs $0 on the Free plan (25 contacts), about $14 on Essential, $29 on Pro, $69 on Business and $139 on Advanced, using annual-billing equivalents. Monthly billing is higher. The price rises with your number of active contacts, and AI features may cost an extra $29 per month.

Is ManyChat still free?

Yes, but only for very small accounts. Since the March 2, 2026 plan change, the free plan covers 25 active contacts, down from 1,000. It is useful for testing flows, not for running a real audience.

What counts as an active contact on ManyChat?

An active contact is anyone you exchange messages with in a month through automations, broadcasts or the inbox. Reviewers note that organic DMs and story reactions can count too, so a viral post can raise your contact count and your bill.

How much does ManyChat cost for 10,000 contacts?

Using list prices with annual billing, 10,000 active contacts cost about $131.50 per month on Business ($69 plus 2,500 extra contacts at $0.025), versus $139 on Advanced and about $404 on Pro. That excludes AI add-ons, taxes and WhatsApp fees. Monthly billing would be higher.

Does ManyChat charge extra for AI?

AI is not available on Free or Essential. Reviews describe it as available from Pro upward, with one citing a separate add-on of about $29 per month, which brings a Pro setup with AI to roughly $58. Check the checkout page for your account, since packaging may differ.

Is there a ManyChat alternative for a website chatbot?

If your customer questions arrive on your website rather than in Instagram or Messenger DMs, an AI agent trained on your documents can cover that need. Heeya is one option, with plans at €0, €19 and €99 per month, but it does not handle Instagram or Messenger DMs, so it complements ManyChat rather than replacing it for social automation.
